I’ve been getting more and more into the world of film in the past year or so, since around the time I got started with criticker. I’m not a real critic (or a real writer) but I like writing down the impressions a film has left on me – this also helps me remember it better, I used to have real trouble remembering most of the stuff I watched.

This blog was originally music oriented; now, while music is still my first love, I’m watching more films than ever and, as with music, I’ve found my tastes and experiences have evolved in time. Mostly this is due to the films themselves, many discovered through the criticker recommendation engine – but I’ve also been influenced by the writings of some critics, among them Ray Carney (who, despite dismissing the entertainment factor in films, taught me about film as a personal challenge and experience, and made me discover Cassavetes’ films) and Walter Chaw (a great critic, incisive and insightful). Of course, I never stop learning.

Starting with the 2009 “reboot” of the blog, I’ve started rating films, here’s my scale:

  • **** – essential movie, you gotta see it even if you’ll hate it.
  • *** – very good movie, albeit flawed in some respect.
  • ** – not bad, you might like it if you’re into this sort of thing.
  • * – poor, not worth your time.

I try to avoid giving half stars (like ***1/2 and so on) as much as possible.

Here’s a list of what I’ve rated on here so far, odered by ranking and alphabetically:
