Oh my god, the blog’s popularity is going through the roof! There’s been a request to upload When’s latest album, You Are Silent, so I did. It’s menacing – and it’s a masterpiece.

Writing this prompted me to give it a serious spin, which I must’ve omitted to do before. It’s actually not bad, in a dark and wacky lo-fi-Ulver-with-infusions-of-electronic-Scott-Walker-bits way. Not sure if it’s a masterpiece though. Look at me, I’m a requests-whore.

I think you’ll probably like more Trippy Happy. It’s a psychedelic parody which reminds of the 60’s albums (with a strong Beatles and Beach Boys influence) about leaving the town that eats people and all the trouble behind and starting your trip into a colourful land where rainbows shine and hippies lay among toys and flowers. Of course it’s a parody, the happiness and the optimism are pretty much a dissimulation, but the arrangements are very complex and subtle, and this makes Trippy Happy a masterpiece (even though it’s not that menacing).
